I agree and disagree with this. Using personal is BS and you need different types of personalities on the Exco but they have to be able to work together at the end of the day. This pilot group is worthless from a unity standpoint. We have all these "senior" pilots on here tooting their own horn about how much they know about union stuff but won't step up and even throw their names in the ring for Exco.
A union business agent that is paid directly from the Omni membership dues doing negotiations for another airline contract is useless...not the pilot group.
I'm pretty sure that the business agent works for multiple airlines and is paid by the 1224 for ALL his work. If the pilot group is so unhappy with him then either call him or the 1224, don't sit here and ***** about it.
A negotiating committee that is on the path of negotiating in the same manner of techniques as the first "Standard Contract" is worthless...not the pilot group.
From what I have heard around the water cooler: 2 of the 3 have already "written" a new contract while the 3rd one has been studying on how to negotiate and trying to find out what this pilot group wants and needs and the correct process for this so we won't continue to get beat down by the company during negotiations.
There is a reason why most of the senior pilots at Omni are not part of the Union process...We don't like playing childish games with babies, and most have more years dealing with the Teamsters than the EXCO has been in aviation...And that's including playing with his Lego Airplanes...
These are just my observations to this post and my point of view as a line pilot who wants/needs things to get better here.
