If you call him and haven’t done any research then yes you will have a problem. I was a chief pilot for 8 years and I would do the same as he did if guys called and didn’t do there due diligence. Is EAS the best place in the world? Nope. Are there better places? Sure. Are there worst places? Absolutely.

The point ( I think) that he was trying to make amidst all the AF bashing was that guys are turning down a substantial pay raise into a new type rating because it's THAT BAD. Most if not all of this pilot group is still very heavily into career progression, so to turn down fresh ink on your cert definitely says something.
