Seems to me that what we really should have is not a Union but a Guild, covering ALL Pilots. Your seniority is within the Guild, and is therefore portable.

If an airline wants Pilots, they pay the rate that the Guild sets. An Airline can pay MORE than the Guild rate, but never less. Got a less-appealing base to staff, or want to get current/qualified in type, you're going to have to pay above Guild rate.

Let the airlines compete for our labor, instead of us competing for jobs.

Yes, I know, it won't happen, but if we were smarter about it, that is a better way than what we have. And there is no better time to do it than the coming decade.
