Most uniform places make the pants with pleats, with the waistline really small and the hip area large. It makes all females look like they have a pear shape. I just took mine in and had them altered to take the pleats out.
I have to say that i do not like the uniform on women but with some alterations it doesn't look bad. I absolutely hate the cross tie as well and wear the mens tie myself. As for the hat goes I never wear it, too big!! The pants got to have them tailored like you mentioned. The jacket have it tailored. I had a discussion with a couple of guys and they suggested skirts and pumps!!! Are they Crazy?!?!
