Rumor is that there were going to be massive reserve work rule improvements that would make reserve even better than being a lineholder. The cost was only a 15% pay raise instead of a 16% pay raise.
They called around to a bunch of guys complaining about how terrible reserve was and when they explained it the reserves demanded the 16% pay instead of reserve changes.
That's only a rumor of course.
