You guys need to review your history lessons. UAL went into Bankruptcy in December 2002 and Delta and Northwest didn't file until fall of 2005.
United didn't exit Chapter 11 until February 2006 and DAL & NWA were waiting to see if UAL and/or U.S. Air liquidated otherwise they would have pulled the trigger earlier.

Wow, a strike vote. Like the 99% one United did before voting for the UPA 66% yes? American didn't go Chapter 11 until 2011 with $4B in the bank. There was no industry-wide downturn at the time. A completely different story.
