It is more than just attrition. As more airplanes come on line, there are also more lines each month. For each new airplane, 5 FO's upgrade to Captain, and 5 more FO's are needed. So, for each new airplane, there are 10 openings for FO's. (These are rough numbers - there is an average of 10 pilots/2 crews per airplane needed).



In April of 2015 there were 130 Round 1 lines in Charlotte. This past month, there were about 200.
