AF Guard bum here; been a member for a few years, but never really spent much time in the forum and don't know a ton about civilian flying/hiring processes/jargon/etc., so I'm doing my research. I'm looking at trying to go Regional to boost some hours and get some 121 experience for the future, but would obviously prefer to stay close to the civilian flying hub AND home, if possible... which leads to my initial questions:

Does CVG being a new base mean that a new hire would have a pretty good chance at bidding it right away?

Does it appear that CVG would hang around for a while, all things considered, or could even a new base get shut down relatively quickly?
