I am happy that those joining our airline have a positive optimistic attitude. If they felt any differently, they'd be the wrong folks for the job. But I also feel that as time goes by, in my case over 3 decades, criticism is healthy and to be encouraged. If we complain, it only shows we would like to see things better. With nearly a decade left to go, it doesn't make me feel good to see the company rated at the bottom. Do I think my paycheck is safe? Probably. But that isn't enough to keep morale up given the current environment. Do your job and go home is and has been the prevalent theme here for a long time. The SLI will no doubt make matters even worse. Unfortunately, US management has not been the savior most were hoping for. Like I said before, had it not been for limited competition, low fuel costs, and lower compensation through reorganization profits wouldn't be so rosey as they currently are. Sorry if I sound negative, but even if you are new you have to temper expectations with reality. So for now, I will be grateful for what I have and continue to hope things get better.
