Not sure if you're being serious or not so I'll assume it's a legit question?
The answer is, yes, of course it applies! Absolutely, or as we prefer to say it 109% true!
(109 of our brothers and sisters were furloughed shortly after we'd posted a multi-billion dollar profit)
At every other major airline a person's experience at that specific airline and also his/her past experiences determines that person's progress. So an experienced first officer becomes a captain, an experienced captain becomes a check airman, fleet manager, etc., etc.
Here you can bypass the whole experience part by becoming "FQS" or flight qualified supervisor. So you can come from a regional airline where the largest plane you ever flew was an RJ and your "international" experience stretched 'all the way' to Montreal, Canada and you can become an instantaneous international 757/767, MD11 or B747 captain and shortly thereafter a check airman. Yes, some of the FQS had previous military flying experience and/or other pax airline experience but many went from military paper-pusher jobs or RJ flying straight to flying heavies overseas. This is no joke and is happening as we speak.
The worst of the worst are the ones who came here in the middle of our furlough. People were literally surrendering their company IDs due to being furloughed while those instantaneous ûber captains were being given their coloring books in indoc training..
I vividly remember one such occasion when a new nurp was being shown around the property while two pilots had just surrendered their badges. There was a total silence in the flight ops area and people were genuinely sick to their stomachs.
This could be such an incredible company, there's so much talent here, so much knowledge and experience but this whole nûrp fiasco is so discouraging to everyone..
