The money is there but we have a union that represents us and them. Huge conflict of interest.
ALPA represents all the WOs and the APA represents mainline pilots. The conflict arises in that APA used to represent a portion of the Eagle pilots (Nashville Eagle), then punted when all the Eagle carriers were certified as a single carrier. This was mid- to late 1990s. ALPA won that certification election.

Now, APA might be a little more willing to represent the WOs if doing so meant getting all the flying back to the mainline pilot group. ALPA won't let go because they want the AA pilots back in ALPA and see their presence at the WOs, especially Envoy, as a means to that end.
