Technically correct. The UAX carriers did not
have to "hire" furloughed UAL pilots...unless they wanted the 70 seat contracts. But the jobs were a pre-condition for the additional flying.
Guess what? They UAX carriers the contracts. (Go figure.)

were some pretty crazy "interviews" early on (one example: GoJets), but the fires were put out reasonably quickly with the full weight of UAL applied once ALPA became involved.
