If RAH goes belly up, then that's what needs to happen based on its economic performance and that's just survival of the fittest. Long term, if we want to raise the bar for all airlines, then we need to raise the bar across the board. Those smaller carriers who are either unwilling,or unable to raise the bar must compete for labor. If perspective pilots aren't attracted to the job the way a moth is attracted to a flame, then the seats will be empty and there will be a staffing problem. A persistent staffing problem is unsustainable.

Pilots want to be able to both raise their families and they want to receive a return on their investment. The raising of the bar is about 10 years behind schedule. If we want to attract more pilots to the profession, then the profession needs to be "attractive" to them, short term, mid term, and long term in their career expectations.
