Exactly.

Let's put away the broad brushes, work to unify pilots & take full advantage of improving conditions for the piloting profession.

Ermm, OK. United had a J4J program. It was called Jets For Jobs. I really don't care whether or not USAirways started the program but United had a program called Jets For Jobs - I know because I got a job with SkyWest under the program. I misremember a lot of stuff nowadays but that isn't one of them.

As far as Guppy Killer stickers, they were definitely out there - not urban legend. Not a frequent sighting but they existed. They weren't specific to any regional. No one here has implied that they were the sole domain of Republic pilots, but there was at least one Republic pilot who had the sticker on his bag according to a 2007 post by Joey Meatballs (post #3 on the thread I've linked). http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/hangar-talk/16936-where-can-i-find-some-good-flight-case-stickers.html
I believe Joey Meatballs because I've also seen the Guppy Killer sticker.

Another old thread with a Guppy Killer sighting: http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/re...esa-737-a.html

I suppose those '80 for 80' stickers that I saw a couple of times also had no meaning?

It is what it is, but let's not rewrite the past like United's J4J didn't exist or that Guppy Killer and 80 for 80 stickers didn't exist. They did. Just like United's TORQUE pins existed.

Perhaps not literally, but absolutely figuratively.

Technically correct. The UAX carriers did not have to "hire" furloughed UAL pilots...unless they wanted the 70 seat contracts. But the jobs were a pre-condition for the additional flying.

Guess what? They UAX carriers the contracts. (Go figure.)

There were some pretty crazy "interviews" early on (one example: GoJets), but the fires were put out reasonably quickly with the full weight of UAL applied once ALPA became involved.

p.s.

You have the ORIGINAL document on that? I REALLY wish I did. It WASN'T called that. It was simply language in one of the concession rounds. J4J at USAir had a whole slew of other things tied to it. Percentage of pilots, the whole Mid Atlantic certificate debacle, etc.

Negative. All that flying has been out for RFP and awarded independent of the scope lift.

Really? Is that why all those furloughed UAL, ATA, ABEX, and everyone else was able to slide into the DEC CA spots at Gojets? Because the interview was so hard?

IIRC, there was NO INTERVIEW for a furloughed UAL pilot at a UAX feeder.

Let me take a wild guess: you were not a junior pilot at UAL during any the furloughs in the last 10 years?

It was an LOA in the premerger UA contract. You will find somewhere in the LOA the exact wording 'Jets For Jobs'.

It's a fairly minor point as to the name of the program, but it required the regionals to hire x number of UAL furloughees for each new aircraft added. And yes, some of the regionals played games with the furloughees.

Can you name a single UAL furloughee that was a DEC CA at GoJets? I never heard about that offer, and I doubt any other furloughees heard of such a thing. I've kept in touch with a lot of furloughees and no one ever mentioned DEC positions for any US airline. There were some furloughees who took DEC positions overseas but that's an entirely different animal than we're discussing here.

I interviewed at SkyWest. There were ~a dozen of us furloughees interviewing the day I was there. We were even required to bring our logbooks, which the interviewers reviewed prior to our interviews.

I'm sorry, but being furloughed pilot after 9/11 (ME), the scope lift, and all the crap that went with, what are you trying to say above?

Right. I'm NOT trying to get into a peeing contest over it with you. I just don't remember that SPECIFIC NAME in the document, like it was at USAir. Or the original NWA "across the table"/CPZ agreement. Which contained SPECIFIC fleet, seats, flow up-down, etc etc etc

You are correct, I worded that WRONG. Not DEC's. But Gojets WAS hiring a lot of pretty qualified furloughed guys, simply because they knew they'd have upgrades quick and wanted the experience. So again, you are correct, NOT a DEC. But of the guys that took advantage, I believe the last went back either late 2012/early 2013.

Was that after furlough 1 or 2? I thought I specifically remember that on the initial agreement there was no interview process.

As far as I know, not too many furloughees were hired at Gojets. I think you'll find that the bulk of furloughees were hired at SkyWest.

Furlough 2. I don't remember any agreements during furlough 1 for being hired at regionals. I was furloughed in early 2002 and by the time I ran out of guard bumming opportunities, no regionals were hiring furloughees. I ended up taking a low level nonflying job because there was not much out there during furlough 1.
As far as no interview, I do not remember seeing that in the agreement. And FWIW, I went to SkyWest in late 2010 when they had me interview so it's not like the regionals dropped the interviews.

I remember the initial agreement happening on concession round 1, early 2003?
