I showed up to the interview a week later to check it out. There was an ATA guy in the training department that came and said hello. The interview was with a young guy that said he didn't have any questions for me and was I available to start soon. I asked about the The left seat and he insisted I was interviewing for a right seat position. I told him I was under the impression that they were hiring DECs or at least had some sort of Lance Captain program. He said that was no longer an option that was being considered. I said I wasn't interested in an FO position. A week later, I got an offer letter in the mail and a study package.
I never followed up with a question to ask what the offer was for. I know a handful of guys that went and they were used as a sort of lance captain until their seniority could hold captain.
In Hulas language they called it CQFO.
