I believe it's a 1 year contract as well coming on as PIC, however upgrading from FO to PIC is either 6 or 9 months. Assistant chief told me it was 9, my buddy who upgraded told me 6.

If you upgrade before your 1 year FO contract is up, it's just added on. It is also pro-rated.
