You're assuming once again that I'd say "this guy would be great for an interview". I understand the implications of vouching for someone. There are different types of recommendations out there. They aren't all of the personal variety. It is very standard practice in the business world to recommend someone's resume because it's a good resume. I sent his in and specifically stated I had yet to fly with the individual and couldn't vouch for his abilities in the plane. However, his resume is somewhat impressive and deserves a look. Should you (HR) decide it's not yet worthy of an interview keep it on file and we'll update it regularly. I value someone that is out putting in his dues and think it shows something of his character. He's intelligent, hard working, and wants to be a part of our organization. I'll leave it to you(HR) to decide further.
That's the gist of what the letter was about. Simply "Hey I found a resume that looks promising take a look and see what you think" kind of thing.
So being helped by someone twice removed, who you don't really know, have never flown with, is different then helping someone you met on a message board how? It's not entirely much different. Sometimes you can pick things up about people. You guys assume the only communication I have with this individual is on this board for all to read. But what it comes down to is if someone displays a level headed way of thinking, puts in his dues, and wants to work. I don't have any reason trying to help them get a job. I understand what you're saying and feel free to say no. I don't have any problem looking at someone's resume and if I like it, sending it it.
