By car, LGA is much closer and it seems, in theory, Car2Go would even be an option. However, I've taken the bus to LGA before and it was not pleasant.
The subway to Airtrain option at JFK seems much better public transit wise (and will take roughly the same as subway bus to LGA), but getting there by car will take a lot longer and Car2Go isn't an option yet.
Depending on where in LIC you are, you could take the E or the 7 to Roosevelt Ave and then the Q70 to the airport. Might not be pleasant, but it's an option.
If Car2Go is more your style, there's plenty of parking in the residential areas of East Elmhurst, near 81 St. and the Avis/Hertz lots, and the Marine Air Terminal, from which you can then take the employee or Port Authority shuttles into the terminals.
Also keep in mind that if driving to JFK, the Van Wyck can (and will) make your life miserable. Subway to AirTrain, while a valid option, gets expensive real quick with each AirTrain ride costing $5, unless you use it enough to do the $25 10-ride card or $40 30-day card.
