I am looking to transition from instructing to get better time and a solid schedule, plus I want to get back to my house in NC with any luck. I am gunning for ATL, which would be an easy commute. I have 1030TT right now, still instructing daily, CFI, II and MEI, also military but, not an aviator.

Sorry, just saw this. It's probably doable. You would have to explain the situation during the interview. I think they prefer you to live in base. I know of two pilots that commute. You definitely have the time for an FO position. You don't have 135 PIC IFR mins but will in no time. I have no idea what they're doing for hiring in ATL right now. DEN still seems to be the place everyone is going.
