The cost of the retention bonus is far lower than the cost of even a $10/hr raise for our 1150 pilots. That's not even being the best pay out there among our competitors. I'm not saying we should be the best pay out there for a regional, but not being bottom level is crucial for growth. In an earlier post I stated that the bonus was nickels and dimes. Perhaps I should have said the bonus is nickels and dimes compared to what it would actually take to bring pay up comparable to competition for new hires.
Sorry I was being sarcastic towards another persons response. I fully agree with you that once again this is no where near enough and a cheap ploy by the company. This retention bonus has been in play at ENY for a couple months now and their door isn't getting beat down. Why would we see a different result?
