It isn't nice, but most labor groups do not do much for retired members. Just sayin' that is how it usually works out. Moreso when the highest paid 5 to 10% is checking out annually. The ability to transfer that 10% or so of "retro" back to the voters is too strong an inducement to be charitable about (at least from what I've seen from the average guy).
Those who maximized the age 65 rule should probably not expect a whole lot of benevolence from those who stagnated patiently below. I don't blame senior guys for camping, hell, I will probably camp until 63. Just looking around and saying we would be really different from the average if we took money from the active list and sent retro to retired pilots.
It should absolutely be retro pay, even though I will see less of it. Many of the guys that voted no understood that they wouldn't be financially rewarded for making that choice. They were due to retire shortly and would have benefited immediately by voting yes but they held out to make the pilot group better in the long run.
