Always get released. You can be drug tested at the end of those DHs. Make sure you are released or it can be considered a failure if you aren't there.
They cannot deny a release.
This is important! Don't show up for a DH thinking "I'm not working" You are on the hook for drug and alcohol once you show for that DH. Even if you plan on still taking that DH back to base, instead of finding your own way back, you can still call to get released from the DH.
