@AMNegron - Steve from Open Flight Solutions. here. To explain: I've bought about 1000 VK-172 GPS modules and I've rejected or replaced close to 100. We've also found that it is extremely sensitive to voltage issues - either under-volt or voltage fluctuation. If you're using it with the Pi 3 that can pose a problem.
When it works, the VK-172 is a good GPS, but between the quality variation and the voltage sensitivity it causes enough issues that I don't want to base my reputation and business on it. So we now offer several options: go with no GPS if your table has a good GPS; go with the remote GPS if you need a very solid GPS; go with the VK-172 (available as an optional accessory) if you want to save space - just be aware of the potential issues.
I hope that all makes sense. Thanks!
Steve
