Most major FOs make enough money to be comfortable, but if you're in a hurry for the bigger bucks I'd guess 2-4 years for first upgrade since many major FOs will bypass upgrade. Downside there is you'll stay junior for a long time since those bypassed FOs will eventually come in on top of you. Early upgrade at a major is typically for those who pay a lot of alimony, or really like high-end call girls.
