What you need to do is call futures on your days off and tell them that you want to be on the bid sheet for premium ONLY. Give them parameters that suit your needs. I need 8 or 12 hours notice. I won't fly redeyes...whatever. Remember you're not obligated for anything. I routinely turn down trips that won't work for me and take the ones that will.
I haven't picked up a trip at straight time in 4 months.
As far as DECS goes we don't have access to it yet so we're living in Catcrew which is even more archaic.
You've been using DECS for years. It's what has driven the fly planning side of our computer system since about 98, just not sch. Maybe the scheduling part is easier, but I have a DECS sign in and use it for weather and aircraft routing. LAA guys can chime in on that, but my PBS instructor said that we are in for a treat learning it.
