This is correct, although he's already done the mil equivalent for the MEI as I understand it so from here out its just add-on ratings. CFI ride you're expected to be almost perfect, they're sending you out to teach. For a very long period of time the MCO FSDO had a <20% pass rate.

OP, just wait. There's nothing you need any of that stuff for right now, and hooking an FAA check ride just prior to showing up would not be a career enhancing move.
