Most people leave them in open time as part of an informal agreement to hope that they go to a junior man situation. If you pick up a CDO via a junior man call, you get paid 14 hours to fly it.
Also, if they go to someone on SCR, then they get the day before it and after it off. It works better for them, and it burns a reserve each day, making it more likely that days will go critical or that they JRM.
JM CDOs only pay 7 hours, which is why most JMs are CDOs. This way they get an overnight out of you and only have to pay one day JM pay.
