After reading some of these responses I think my biggest concern isn't poor performance leading to a failure, but those unknown what ifs that could come up - like the story about the mx issue mentioned earlier in the thread.

It's funny, but my biggest motivation to adding the SE to my CFI certificate is so I can teach my son to fly when he's old enough. He's 2 right now... I think I have some time!!
