Top Gun was gay, dumbed down for the masses, and not at all realistic when it comes to flying and fighting in the air. I think some of the flying scenes look great on a widescreen with the surround sound cranking but not what I'd consider a great movie. If you're into beach volleyball you will probably disagree. Memphis Belle, Field of Dreams, Shawshank Redemption, those to me were great movies.
