If you can live in base, take a job that pays less, cuz you will make more in the end by spending time with your family.
QOL can be many things. Having 17-19 days off and commuting from a city you love would mean great QOL for me.
That said, nothing like getting 17-19 off, living in base and picking up OT for 200% either.
It does seem MIL guys keep coming to 9E and leave very quick. One guy was hired at UPS on his last day of FO IOE.
