Sick Leave

· Verification not required until the first sick call in a bid period after the pilot has used more than 100 sick leave hours in the previous 12 bid periods; a pilot who has used less than 100 sick leave hours in the preceding 12 bid periods will have no obligation to provide verification in the current bid period, other than under a good faith basis

So if we use 100 hours due to a broken bone, and then get a cold on hr 101, we now have to verify from that point on? Will the company pay for all of those verifications?

· Eliminates voluntary verification

As of now if we have 100 hours and use 15, but verify those 15, we return to our 100 hours of unverified leave. But based on this it sounds like we can no longer get those 15 hours back even if we verify, correct? So now we're down to 85 no matter what?

I believe in the last TA there were provisions to excuse things like surgery, broken bones, etc. This would of course have to be part of any attempt to remove voluntary verification. As pointed out last year, the person who would be hit hardest by this would be someone with a severe sprain or the like that didn't qualify for any exception but still would eat up all of the 100 hours then be faced with 365 days of 100% verification.

The rest of the changes look like they could *possibly* be worth consideration, but I don't understand why the company is so hard-up to remove the voluntary verification. And why don't they change everyone's sick leave anny. to DOH? This seems like a no-brainer.
