Look at the task from the employer's point of view, would you want extremes of personality such as the super-religious guy, the inflexible rule-follower, or the opposite anti-authority maverick on your team? Although crude these can give a taste of somebody's behavior and outlook on the world. It is probably not a bad thing that most majors conduct the test.
In my opinion, its just another tool in the ole' toolbag that the airlines can use to NOT offer you a job if they don't like you for whatever reason. They are really simplistic and ask the same question 4 or 5 times throughout the test. I've said it on here many times--If you are related to some ********* that already works there, or can check the "right" box on the race/gender section, you could be Jeffrey Dahmer and your IN.
Makes no difference if you can fly or not.
Trust me, there are some certifiable Whack-a Doos on line right now.
