We've had several regional FO's transition over as direct entry captains. Usually they'll hire directly into left seat when there isn't anyone else eligible for upgrade.
The schedule is dynamic and ever changing. 10 days on with 5 off. This time of year with our current crewing capabilities and flight activity most of us are working all 10. Not every duty day is the same though. Some are multiple legs flown with 14 duty hours and others are single leg then go to the hotel.
