The problem is there is no definitive answer on anything in China. The CAAC is divided up into several regions and the medical authority in each reagion has some autonomy. Furthermore within the region the relationship your company doctor has with the local medical authority will also affect what is acceptable and what is not. Because nobody in China wants to make a decision until forced to, and each decision has to be made with the agreement of several parties, the chances are that you will not get an answer you are in China and going through the process.
That's not only China....., seems to be an Asian standard...., here in Japan it seems that certain clinics have more of a reputation for handing out medical busts....., I'm afraid that the pilot boards are not going to yield a definite answer to this and the OP will just have to take the plunge
