In case you missed it, the Majors are hiring a lot of pilots. Couple that with Amazon Prime seeking 767 guys and there's your staff attrition.
This first part of this tri-part question was more in reference to why SO many new hires wash-out. I think you answered it. I have just not really heard of a wash-out rate that high before, even in the ACMI world. (I heard IFL guys wash out a lot).
I'm guessing they want their new hires to be big boys and girls and don't hold their hands the way regionals do these days. On that note I've heard of people literally almost crashing the sim and still passing check-rides.
