ALPA's implementation of "Scope Choke" in C2012 has been very successful. History and results prove that. Concourse C in ATL was dominated by RJs now is dominated by mainline jets. Delta upgrade is now faster then most regionals. With the 717 came hiring in historic amounts.
United also implemented Scope Choke about a year later and they too will see the transformation that is seeing from the recapture of regional flying very shortly.
Meanwhile at AA, Scope Choke was not implemented and mainline has hiring at a much slower clip. Even with the delivery of new jets, AA mainline airframes has shrank while regionals grow.
Scope Choke is not pulling up the ladder, it's extending it.
Was it our "Scope Choke" or was it the fact that this industry has been in a decade long slump and not as many young people have decided to make it a career making it hard for the regionals to find pilots.
