Living at a smaller outstation with less frequency will mean that commuting to certain trips might require positioning day before instead of day 1. But in your situation, if getting there from PWM doesn't look like it would work out maybe you can preemptively drive to BOS. There is also usually a BGR flight to LGA in the morning, but my geographical knowledge of the area isn't strong enough to know if that's a better option than BOS. BOS has the Delta Shuttle thing going on so during the week day there are hourly flights, which park at the C gates and not the Marine Air Terminal which in turn gives you one less bus ride.

Our policy at Endeavor is to give yourself two options to get to work before your show time. If you miss the first, call in. If you miss the second more than a handful of times they might send you to a mediation board or something where they discuss why you're struggling to commute. Never heard of that happening to anyone though, including people doing much rougher commutes than PWM-LGA.
