What does an am out and back look like that makes it so painful? Do all of the fleets have them or just certain ones? I live in Memphis and start indoc in a few weeks and am trying to figure out what option will work best for balancing work, home, and the military for the next couple years.

Living in Memphis, bid Reserve lines based on what days you want off, then enjoy spending time with your family while at home on call. Reserve life in domicile is pretty good. We have our moments, but typically spend a lot less days on the road than the guys flying the line. Your mileage may vary depending on aircraft type.
