-TO ALL POSSIBLE NEW HIRES-
I recently completed IOE and from day one of CTP to the first day in the plane was about 79 days (give or take a few).
-Interview-
The interview is a breeze, walk in like an applicant and don't try to be Top Gun. Be honest, sincere and relaxed. Have all of your paperwork in order, and ready to be handed over. They don't care wether you have electronic or paper logs. review approach plates and be prepared to brief an approach using JEPP charts. Have atleast 2-3 educated questions to ask the interviewers if asked (shows preparation). Now that the applications are up something like 500% from what I've heard, it is becoming extremely important to get a reference to bring your App "to the top of the stack".
-training-
CTP is a total of 2 weeks consisting of one week in Dayton, then a second week in CVG for sims and it is a blast, very relaxed and fun experience and helps a ton for chair flying during ground training in DAY if you have never been in a full motion. You will deadhead home between DAY & CVG. You will spend about 5 weeks in Dayton for ground, about 1.5-2 weeks in CLT for 700/900 sims, then another 2-3 days in CVG for 200 sims. You will dead head home between DAY, CLT, & CVG events. Within about 48-72 hours you will be in the plane. The entire training process is very expedited compared to the stories I've heard of 6 month training events last year. IOE is a minimum of 25 hours(about two trips) and you will be dead headed to and from all trips during IOE and OE.
My overview of the entire training process was very good. I made a lot of friends and learned way more than I thought I would. I have enjoyed being where I am and so far, some people may not enjoy being here but from all of the people I have talked too 90% of them are happy here. In the end, ITS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT. I have worked long and hard to get here and there isn't a day that I regret coming here. the ground instructors over prepared you for the oral exam and the sim instructors over prepared you for the Proficiency Check. All of it was obviously stressful, but if you work for it and you feel like you deserve it, you will do just fine. Just remember 6P's. Prior Planning Prevents **** Poor Performance.
