Things will never change, just read some post about some cfi asking what they need to fly the 170 cause it looks like a "big" jet. There is many that will fly them for nothing and companies know that. Untill majors get some real scope and put anything bigger than 50 seats at mainline then the undercutting will continue.
Not only wont it change I think it will get worse. With regional guys earning like 20% of the major guys the majors will continue to outsoure to the regionals. The only reason a 50 seat RJ between major cities is even profitable or practical is because of the low labor rates. The regionals will say that if you guys want more money then the majors will take back more flying and threaten your jobs and its probably true.
