Once you get the tax return it's different story I get it. But you're still only able to live throughout the year on half of it. Because the government puts it in a interest free savings account for you......bless their hearts! So $33,000 was the number some one used previous to me so I continued to use it but after the math at 75 hour guarantee plus bonus it's close to $40,000 without subtracting taxes from your regular paycheck. Also doesn't include the new hire $10,000 so you can plan on taking around 5-$6000 of that home after taxes. So simple math, all said in done $27,000 year minus taxes roughly $24,000 take home. $24,000+$12,000(bonus) puts you at $36,000 so I was off by roughly $3000 my apologies. Still pretty hard to live on in NYC with a family and responsibilities. Now add the new hire bonus to ONLY THE NEW GUYS $6000 after taxes puts you at $42,000 hardly sustainable in New York.
And yet thousands of people before you were able to do it on less. Grow up and learn to budget.
