We know the president elect ran on American protectionism and keeping good paying jobs stateside. Giving carte blanche to cabotage would seem to contradict that narrative. I guess time will tell if he will make America great again.
What we do know is how the outgoing administration has ruled.
Hate to throw a wrench into that, but this approval is a big win for Boeing and their workers who fought for NAI. Boeing has one of, if not the deepest pockets for lobbying in all of DC.
Trump's narrative will be how good this is for US manufacturing jobs since he said the US doesn't make anything anymore. These jobs are more tangible and understood by the American voting and consumer public than the number of airline industry "service" jobs. I hold out no hope that Trump will do anything to change course on this decision.
