This is the way I look at it. I do not ever help clean when I am on duty as a pilot. Period. If I get rushed and forget one of my duties as a pilot, I do not believe the FAA, or company will give a rats A$$ when I tell them I chose to help the FAs clean up spit cups and trash from seat pockets.
However, when I commute, I will help only after all the paying customers have deplaned. I am a patient person and I will sit and wait. (Oh, and don't forget about the old lady in 2A that also paid and is waiting for her wheelchair). Without the customers in the back, we will all be out of a job.. Safety first and stay professional my friends.
