However, from the beginning of the year through the Oct 10th class we averaged 7.7 in a new hire class. Since then that has jumped to over 26.
So trying to take 2016s number and projecting them through 2017 is pretty useless. When a company takes the steps of raising starting FO pay by nearly 250% of the course of the year, things change.
And BTW, that guy's numbers for PSA hiring were WAY off.
How many airplanes did we take delivery of in 2016? I didn't keep track of when they were delivered.
I know the Dec 10, 2015 seniority list had 1173 pilots on it, and we only increased about 35 this year. The difference is that we went from being staffed correctly to being understaffed for the number of airplanes that we have.
The hiring right now is correcting that, and are hiring for continued growth moving forward.
Next month's seniority list should have the largest number of pilots in PSA's history (probably ~1230, depending on attrition this month).
