Saxman, the idea is not you have to be Eagle before you can be American, but that there is no Eagle, there only is American. American Airlines flying ATRs, Saabs, EMJs and CRJs. No operated by, contracted by, or wholy owned by. Upgrade to the left seat of an RJ, or go be the bunkie on a 777.
I disagree. There would still be American Eagle, but as far as pilots are concerned there is only one airline. They need to keep the designation between the two, so they can keep the employee costs of other work groups low.
