This next one happened to me: I was offered a JA for a three day, drop and pay protection for the 4 day I was supposed to fly, and it got me the weekend off and I was able to join my wife at her cousin's wedding. For the record it is the only JA I have done in my 3 years here.

Do these cases make you one of Bendo's minions? I personally don't think so. I think it is okay to accept some offers by crew scheduling under certain situations at this point in negotiations. I personally will not go above and beyond for only financial reasons at this point, but i will consider their proposals if it allows me to attend certain important family functions.

Thoughts?
Asking these jokers on here if it's "okay" to pick up OT, JA, whatever is a bit like asking the devil if it's cold where he's from. In both instances, you are going to get a NO.

You don't need permission bro. Just do whatever you need to do in order to:

1. Get paid the most
2. Have the most off time
3. Best trips and QOL

As long as it's within the bounds of the contract, you are A-OK.

Me personally, I do what's best for me. I'm not an OT hog, but I do pick up on certain occasions in transition and yes, at straight pay sometimes.

For instance, January is a notoriously slow month for getting called for JA's. There are quite a few reserves available in my base over the first part of the month with only a couple of red days in there. I picked up an easy high credit 3 day. At straight pay.

We will likely be without a new contract for quite some time regardless of whether you pick up or not and regardless if you run all three on taxi at all times. Just do what's best for you.
