Fortunately, I have not experienced this. But if it is a byproduct of commercial jet design, why did I not even HEAR of one instance of this on the CRJ, which I flew for a decade?

Happened on the ERJ all the time. The thing is, we always assumed it was "mold" in the PACK etc. nobody at the time (at least they never admitted it) knew what it was

It might have something to do with GE engine/system design. I've never had a fume event on a CF-34 or CF-6 equipped aircraft, after 13 straight years of flying them. On the V2500s I've experienced 3 of them in 3 years. Of course, the APU is also part of the issue here.

It is great to see NK change cabin filters and engine oil to remove the neurotoxin chemicals. At least they are doing something rather than ignoring it. Captain T on the NK environmental committee has (thankfully) stepped up to make some real change.

We should probably carry this over to the Part IV forum, there are still redirects here.

You didn't hear about it because it was has been a grand level cover up by the manufactures. When this event happened of course airbus denied it and spirit did big time as well. It was only when more and more facts started coming out, and both the pilot and fa unions pressuring the company did they turn about. They decided that they better get on the right side of the problem in case it gets bigger. They are not doing this because they wanted to. In fact at meetings about this problem they were using flat out intimidation to silence it.

I've had plenty on CF-34's on the ERJ. Even on fairly new planes.

Lots and lots of good info here, a Must Read, IMO:

What is Aerotoxic Syndrome? - Aerotoxic Association

No mention of this website in the Mustache Monthly, just a link to a pamphlet from ICAAO that is (did I read this right?) "available for purchase."
