Your passengers deserve better than your cavalier attitude with respect to their safety. Any Captain who doesn't select strobes on when in position and hold is a lousy one. It's no surprise that the only time I ever get comments is at CLT from the tools at the dysfunctional AA family.
Again, when did people stop becoming pilots and only rats that couldn't go outside company procedures... you position and hold at night while they take a couple minutes to cross traffic or do whatever they need to. You've just ruined the night vision of however many pilots around you cause you sat their like an idiot with your strobes blasting because instead of being smart and respectful, your manual told you to. Now the pilots of however many passengers in the planes behind you have to reset their night vision. So who becomes the lousy pilot? No fed is going to busy anyone from being courteous to other pilots. A quick .5 second reach up during the low speed portion of your roll isn't affecting safety. Being like you and others and not being able to go outside of what your manual says and being a pilot when you need to be one, that is affecting safety.
