I use a guy who charged 30 bucks. Usually it adds up to 300-500 dollars in returns. If you don't meet the standard deduction then don't bother. I think you will though with a house. For example married filing jointly is $12,000. I deduct cell phone use 1,000, union dues 1500, mortgage interest 3500, per diem around 4,000, charitable donations 500, hotels purchased commuting 1200 ( or crashpad) home internet for bidding/ company email 400, luggage/ uniforms above reimbursed amount 250, deltanet fee 50, student loan interest if you have it. Also keep in mind that when you filled out your w4 your withholdings will play a factor in your return. I always claim 0 single to maximize my return. But that is giving uncle Sam an interest free loan every year. To each their own.
