Why should the senior group give up pay in order to put numbers into a column on the scale that will never be occupied?

If we bring up first year pay enough to keep the first year FO's off of food stamps (like say $70/hr) and leave the next three years of the FO scale near first year pay, and then put the majority of the cash into the left seat, everyone will be happy. The "lifers" can make a living, and the "I want United money, so I"m going to United" guys get their Airbus Type w/PIC and go to United. With the way we grow and the rate we're LOSING PILOTS, no one will stay on the FO scale for more than two years anyway. Make dogleg in the slope happen at year four on the FO scale.

Captains (senior) guys make a good living.

Training Dept guys make a good living.

FO's get to build their CV.

Problems solved.

Why come here then? Just as many as a percentage or more are going to united et al directly from regionals and other places
